Job Title: Brewer
Reporting to: Head Brewer
Tioga-Sequoia Founded in 2007 in Fresno, CA. Our brewery is on a mission to brew world-class beers and bring awareness and resources to the preservation of our backyard, which is part of the Southern Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. Since then, we have also been able to create a community brand that has acted as a cultural hub and advocate for the growth of the craft beer community in Central California.
Job summary:
Under the direction of the Head Brewer, the Brewer will be involved in all aspects of work in a production facility including wort production, fermentation, filtration/transfers and yeast management. This is a mentally and physically intensive position that requires exceptional motivation and excellent professionalism in the face of a demanding and fast-paced production environment.
Expectations of the position, but not limited to:
- Handling and measuring ingredients
- Brew wort on 30 bbl single brew mash
- Monitoring and documentation of fermentation
- Dry hopping
- CIP/SIP of all brewery and cellar vessels
- Transfer / Rack / beer filter in progress
- Equipment maintenance
- Maintenance of facilities (cleaning of floors, surfaces and common areas)
Qualifications
- Commercial brewery experience preferred, but keen to train the right person with less experience
- Knowledge of brewing processes, science and quality control measures
- Ability to work with others and receive constructive criticism and feedback
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Very organized with great attention to detail
- A strong work ethic and the desire to succeed
- Embrace a change process and continuous improvement opportunities
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly and efficiently
- Experience with Excel/Sheets and Word
Physical requirements
- Lift and move 55 lbs. independently, and 170 lbs. with help
- Ability to work effectively in extreme temperatures ranging from freezing to 100+F, in humid conditions and with continuous moderate noise levels
- Work mostly standing for 8-10 hours a day
- Bend down, kneel, crouch or crawl in and around equipment and tight spaces without difficulty
- Works at heights up to 10 feet or more
- Knowledge and ability to operate a forklift, hand truck, pallet truck and other warehouse equipment
