Get to know this role

This position is responsible for ensuring the specification, design, installation and repair of electrical / process control equipment in accordance with Sierra Nevada Brewing Company (SNBC) standards and reliability best practices. The Brewery Electrical Control Engineer will work closely with other members of the Engineering and Brewery team to complete capital projects related to continuous improvement, expansion and Security. Additionally, this role will provide technical and reliability expertise to SNBC by managing asset reliability risks that could negatively affect plant or business operations. Reporting to the Director of Technical Services, this role promotes continuous improvement for long-term productivity gains, cost reduction and waste elimination.

What will you do

  • Identifies, develops, designs and integrates improvement projects, optimizations, process changes and new technologies to achieve increased productivity, improved quality, safer operations and increased capacity
  • Provides electrical and control support for capital projects, manages projects as assigned and provides on-site monitoring of external contractors performing work at SNB or in off-site workshops
  • Provides process and automation support to the brewery to ensure all aspects of production are running smoothly
  • Develops engineering solutions for capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues that negatively affect plant operations
  • Collaborates with maintenance personnel on calibration, maintenance and equipment and instrumentation upgrade / replacement activities
  • Develops electrical engineering standards and guidelines for the brewery and provides leadership for the safe electrical work program in accordance with NFPA 70E.
  • Provides advice and training, as required, to promote the proper operation and maintenance of equipment, instruments and control systems
  • Works with safety as a core value, looks for opportunities to build safety awareness and promote safe work practices, models proactive behavior of providing feedback on safety issues, and supports the Hidden Danger program
  • Uses expertise to make decisions and recommendations that have a significant impact on department and organization goals and activities
  • Collaborates with other brewery departments and industry groups to test / configure, run and present brewery related topics; contributes to the brewing community as a whole

Please apply if you have

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or any combination of education and / or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been acquired and
  • Brewing degree or certification preferred
  • 5 years of manufacturing experience required
  • Electrical engineering and / or automation training required and
  • Experience in a popular brewery and
  • Experience in the design, construction, installation, commissioning and troubleshooting of equipment and processes preferred and
  • Project management experience desired
  • Ability to recognize and clearly report information
  • Strong knowledge of brewing concepts, principles, processes and theories
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCad applications
  • Working knowledge of Siemens and Rockwell platforms as well as ProLeit / Brewmaxx
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with and guide others
  • Working knowledge of API programming concepts, computer network technology, servers and databases
  • Ability to be motivated and motivate others to persist in times of challenge or uncertainty
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical and electrical systems infrastructure
