Yuengling will distribute products throughout Missouri in 2023

America’s oldest brewery, Yuengling, said Wednesday it will begin distributing products in Missouri in early 2023. Kansas and Oklahoma have also been added to the brewery’s distribution list.

“These states are home to passionate fans, loyal beer drinkers and great partners,” said sixth-generation Yuengling family member Wendy Yuengling in an announcement video posted on social media. “We look forward to bringing the merchandise to fans in these states.”

Yuengling is based in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, but two other breweries are located in Mill Creek, Pennsylvania and Tampa, Florida. In August 2021, Yuengling products became available throughout Texas.

Nearly 200 years old, DG Yuengling & Sons was founded by German immigrant David G. Yuengling in 1829. One of the reasons Yuengling chose Pottsville was its proximity to natural spring water. Spring water is ideal for brewing German-style beers, says Jennifer Yuengling in an informational video on the brewery’s website.

When the brewery was built, electricity was not yet invented, so cellars were dug underneath to age the beer. Completed in 1941 after 10 years of manual excavations, the caves remain today. Tours of the caves are available between 10:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Yuengling’s original beers are Lord Chesterfield Ale and Dark Brewed Porter, which continue to be brewed today. According to Yuengling’s website, Lord Chesterfield Ale is made in two stages, using both conventional kettle hopping and post-fermentation dry hopping, which results in a crisp, dry finish. The Dark Brewed Porter features knots of caramel and dark roasted malts. Beer and porter are available year-round.

In 2014, the sixth generation of Yuenglings took over the management of the family business.
