QC Manager leads a dynamic, high-value quality program that guides decision-making throughout the brewery. The Quality Control Manager collects and analyzes data and advises on process changes and improvements necessary to ensure that Fiddlehead’s high quality standards are consistently met and ensures that compliance standards are met or exceeded in all brewery operations.

Core Responsibilities:

Including but not limited to the following

– Maintain and improve the quality control laboratory and guidelines to ensure consistency, quality and continuous improvement of all Fiddlehead products.

– Identify quality problems and seek to improve; work with the head brewer to implement

– Measurement and monitoring of dissolved oxygen levels in finished products

– Yeast management

Yeast Generation Tracking and Accessory Planning with Head Brewer

– Order of all yeasts to be used in fermentation

– Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

Assist in the creation and maintenance of SOPs for all departments, as they relate to quality.

– Security

ensuring the safety of personnel within the brewery by assessing the quality of various components and materials in the production line. The Quality Assurance Manager liaises with the various departments of the brewery to ensure that quality standards are maintained at all levels.

– Provide leadership and oversight of Fiddlehead’s root cause analysis processes

– Sensory: implement and manage the sensory analysis panel

– Test raw materials to ensure they meet Fiddlehead standards

– Ensure lab data is actionable and concerns are communicated as needed for out of specification results.

– Ensure the training of operators on quality techniques and good practices

– Research and select new equipment or instruments for the laboratory and/or brewery as needed

Repair and maintenance of instrumentation as needed

– Self-taught and research to keep abreast of industry trends and developments in brewing science

– Perform all necessary registrations

– Maintain a clean work environment

– Comply with all safety rules at all times and work to improve the safety of workspaces

– work with head brewer to define specifications for each style to ensure consistency

Job requirements

– Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline (for example, chemistry, biology,

microbiology, biochemistry, etc.)

– Minimum 3 to 5 years of laboratory experience in the food and beverage industry

– knowledge and understanding of basic laboratory functions and microbiological concepts

– previous experience in the brewing industry a strong asset

– Ability to effectively manage multiple demands and rapid changes

– Ability to work with minimal supervision

– Ability to think critically and solve problems

– Ability to lift 50 pounds
