The position:

A new position in the company, the Brewery Process Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of systems and processes that ensure the continuous improvement of craft beverage production. This includes:

  • Monitor and evaluate existing processes and workflows
  • Optimize productivity by designing, testing and implementing new procedures
  • Document and report process status and changes
  • Monitoring and use of metrics
  • Supervise the selection, construction, installation, programming and commissioning of equipment
  • Provide instructions for successful implementation of process changes
  • Performing risk assessments
  • Assess compliance with applicable safety and quality standards

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, this person supports operations in a customer service oriented role and works with multiple internal and external clients to complete complex projects while maintaining reliable production operations. Specific knowledge and skills required include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial or chemical engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience in project management in food processing or similar industries
  • Engineering experience with brewing equipment is highly preferred, experience with food processing equipment is desirable
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAD (AutoCAD preferred)
  • Proficiency in Allen Bradley, Brewmaxx and / or Siemens PLCs and control equipment is required
  • Familiarity with SCADA platforms, Ignition preferred

The challenges of the position include the remote location. Some of the mechanisms and systems currently in place have been implemented out of necessity to meet these challenges. Unique and essential systems include:

  • High speed can line capable of running three different packaging SKUs simultaneously, integrated with the conveyor and drop packer of a high speed bottle line, with automated end-of-line systems
  • CO2 recovery system
  • A patented biomass boiler to produce steam for the brewery from dried spent grains – Beer Powered Beer!
  • Automated variety packing line for mixed backs of bottles and cans
  • Automated water deaeration system
